Bethel Drives Over Women's Tennis

Box Score SOUTHFIELD, MICH. — The Lawrence Technological University women's tennis team hosted the Bethel Pilots in their last match prior to their spring break trip.

In doubles:

The top-flight doubles match saw Kaavya Palani/Ariadne Kokoula defeated Jacqueline Alcocer/Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-0.

Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/Rafaela Tedesco dropped the 2-doubles match to Szilvi Ferenczy/Sandy Sharaf 6-0, earning the point for the Pilots.

Miriam McCormick/Angela Anderanin fell in the 3-doubles match against Julieta Gonzalez/Saige Rinkenberger 6-1, earning the sweep of the Blue Devils in doubles. 

In singles: 
3-singles had Kokoula made quick work of Tedesco 6-2, 6-0. BU 2, LTU 0.

2-seeded Palani bested Alcocer, 6-0, 6-3. BU 3, LTU 0.

In the top flight, Ferenczy dismantled Herrera Rivera, 6-1, 6-4, securing victory for Bethel. BU 4, LTU 0

Sharaf overpowered McCormick in 4-singles 6-0, 6-1. BU 5, LTU 0

Mattingly-Harnden was outmatched by Gonzalez in 5-singles, suffering a 6-2, 6-1 defeat. BU 6, LTU 0

#6 singles saw Alexis Pena and Taylor Moore battle. It was Pena who came out on top, 6-0, 6-2, to give Bethel a 7-0 victory.
Coach Mertz on the match:  "Bethel women have been in the top 25 national rankings this season, so we knew it would be a challenge at every position today. Unfortunately, they got the better of us. We hop t bounce back stronger in our Spring break events."
The Blue Devils are off until traveling to South Carolina for spring break.
