The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) Women's Tennis team delivered an absolute masterclass against West Liberty University at Chaplin Community Park, securing a flawless 7-0 sweep to even their overall record at 6-6. Our Blue Devils set a fierce tone right out of the gate, sweeping all three doubles matches, highlighted by Isabella Aray and Paola Herrera's dominant 6-1 victory. Carrying that unstoppable momentum into singles play, LTU dismantled their opponents without dropping a single set across the board. Taylor Moore showcased utter perfection in the opening set of her 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 singles, while Aray and Herrera matched each other with clinical 6-1, 6-1 wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. At the top of the lineup, Claudia Calabuig easily dispatched her opponent 6-2, 6-2, capping off a spectacular team performance where West Liberty simply could not keep pace with our relentless Blue Devils.
Refusing to be outdone, the LTU Men's Tennis team mirrored the women's success with a spectacular 7-0 sweep of their own over West Liberty, bringing our dominant doubleheader to a thrilling close. Our men established superiority early, clinching the doubles point behind a flawless 6-0 shutout by Carlos Patricio and Takuya King. In singles, the Blue Devils unleashed an offensive onslaught, anchored by Alessandro Gatto's breathtaking 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel victory at the No. 5 spot and King's commanding 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3. Even when faced with brief adversity, LTU showcased elite resilience; after dropping a tight first set in a tiebreaker, Cael Guthrie mounted a brilliant comeback at No. 4 singles, prevailing 6-7(5), 6-1, 10-7 to ensure the sweep remained completely intact. It was a banner day for Lawrence Tech tennis, proving once again that when the Blue Devils take the court, perfection is the standard.
