CHAPLIN COMMUNITY PARK — The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils women's tennis team delivered an absolute masterclass on the courts, dismantling Shenandoah University with a commanding 6-1 overall victory. Setting an aggressive tone early, LTU completely swept the doubles matches to secure the crucial opening point and establish unquestionable control. The powerhouse duo of Isabella Aray and Paola Herrera set the pace with a flawless 6-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles, quickly followed by Claudia Calabuig and Taylor Moore, who cruised to a beautiful 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot. Showcasing immense grit and determination, Jackie Alcocer and Miriam McCormick battled through a tight No. 1 doubles match, ultimately breaking their opponents to seal a 7-5 victory and complete the outright doubles sweep for our Blue Devils.
Carrying that fierce momentum into singles play, the Blue Devils proved entirely unstoppable, winning five of the six matchups in dominant straight-set fashion. Paola Herrera was a standout performer at No. 4 singles, executing a spectacular double-bagel (6-0, 6-0) to completely silence her opponent. Isabella Aray was just as relentless, dropping only a single game in her brilliant 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot. Solidifying the blowout win, Miriam McCormick (6-2, 6-2), Taylor Moore (6-3, 6-2), and Claudia Calabuig (6-3, 6-3) systematically dismantled their respective Shenandoah rivals with unmatched precision. Although Shenandoah managed to scrape together their lone point in a hard-fought battle at No. 2 singles, the overall match was a decisive showcase of LTU's superior depth, raw talent, and unbreakable team spirit.
