WHAC release

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Senior forward Jade Faris and sophomore forward Kate Jacobs are the Lawrence Tech representatives on the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-WHAC Women's Basketball teams, which the conference office announced on Thursday. Both Faris and Jacobs were named to the second unit.

Faris (Perrysburg [Ohio] High School) averaged 10.6 points for first on the team and 8.2 rebounds for ninth in the WHAC. Those figures were personal records along with 24 blocked shots, 26 steals, 54 assists and 73.1 percent free throw percentage (68-93). She was named the WHAC Player of the Week for Dec. 18, 2023.

Jacobs (Hartland High School) contributed 9.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 79.1 percent (72-91) from the free throw line, which was ranked seventh in the conference. She spearheaded a LTU squad that was third in WHAC blocks (3.4 bpg) with a total of 33 for sixth.

Guard DeDe Smith (Flint/Carman-Ainsworth HS) was selected to the WHAC All-Freshman Team after chipping in 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She also had 34 assists and 18 steals.

Gracie Mitchell, a senior nursing student out of Perrysburg, Ohio, is the LTU Champions of Character team member. The forward also is a three-time Academic All-WHAC selection.
