WHAC news release

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Lawrence Tech senior guard Brandon Beavers (Columbus, Ohio/Harvest Prep Academy/Shawnee State University) has been chosen the 2023-24 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, the WHAC office announced on Friday. In addition, Beavers earned a spot on the All-WHAC First Team for the first time since 2022 and was named all-conference for the third time in his career (2021 second-team).

Beavers, who also was named to the all-defensive team, led the WHAC with four conference player of the week citations this season, including the last three to end the regular season. His WHAC statistical rankings include first in scoring (20.4 ppg), second in rebounding (8.3) and steals (58), and third in assists (137) and fifth in three-point field goals made (71). For his NAIA career, the Blue Devils modern-day all-time scoring leader started his LTU career on the 2020 WHAC All-Freshman Team and now has 2,002 points in three seasons at LTU and the 2022-23 campaign at Shawnee State.

Josh Pickens, who is in his eighth year at the helm, was named the WHAC Co-Champion of Character Coach. He piloted LTU (20-9) to a modern-day team record 20 wins, 3-0 record versus the NAIA Top-25 (4-2 against teams "receiving votes"), WHAC victories (15-7) and numerous statistical school records.
