BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech softball team opened up WHAC play on Monday hosting RV Madonna. The Blue Devils fell in game 1, 10-0 ending in 5 innings and fell in game 2, 9-0. Lawrence Tech is now 0-2 in conference and 11-16 on their overall season. The Crusaders are now 4-0 in conference and 26-3 on their overall season.
Game 1:
Madonna wasted no time scoring as they scored 5 runs in just the first inning. Madonna went on to score 4 more runs in the second inning. The rest of the game was scoreless, which lead to the game finishing in 5. Freshman Zoey Markey was the only Blue Devil batter to get a hit. Senior Clover Brandt pitched for te Blue Devils, allowing 5 hits for the Crusaders and 6 runs scored in 1 inning pitched. Freshman Jocelyn Hall closed out the game for the Blue Devils allowing 10 hits and 4 runs scored for the Crusaders. Hall Struck out 1 Crusader in 4 innings pitched.
Game 2:
Like the first game, the Crusaders set the tone early, scoring 2 runs in the first inning, 1 run in the second, and 2 more in the third. Madonna scored 1 run in the fifth inning and 3 more runs in the seventh inning to finish the game. Sophomore Chloe Hug had 2 hits and freshman Ashlyn Bloomfield had 1 hit for the Blue Devils. Sophomore Mikayla Timm was the starting pitcher was the Blue Devils, allowing 3 hits for the Crusaders and 6 runs scored. Timm struck out 1 Crusader in 2 innings pitched. Freshman Sarah Basket stepped in for the Blue Devils allowing 4 hits and 3 runs scored for the Crusaders in 4 innings pitched. Brandt closed out the game pitching .2 of an inning. She did not allow the Crusaders to get any hits or score any runs.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday at Cleary for a WHAC double header at 1 and 3pm
