BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech softball team hosted Cornerstone on Saturday for another WHAC doubleheader. LTU honored their three seniors after the games. The Blue Devils swept the day with winning game 1, 10-7 and game 2, 5-3. Lawrence Tech is now 4-2 in conference and 15-16 on their overall season. The Cougars are now 2-2 in conference and 14-12 on their overall season.
Game 1:
The Golden Eagles scored a run in the first inning. Sophomore
Chloe Hug responded with a triple out to right centerfield, scoring junior
Lily Morrissette, tying it up. Cornerstone grabbed the lead, scoring 4 runs in the second inning and another 2 runs in the forth. The Blue Devils looking for their comeback, Freshman
Zoey Markey got it going for the Blue Devils hitting a home run, scoring herself and senior Nicole Powrowski. The Blue Devils killed the fourth inning scoring 4 more runs after Markey's homer, taking the lead, 7-8. Junior
Chloe Carpenter hit a double in the fifth inning scoring junior
Morgan James. In the sixth inning, Hug hit a single to centerfield scoring Morrissette. Sophomore
Mikayla Timm pitched for the Blue Devils, allowing 6 hits for the Golden Eagles and 7 runs scored. Timm struck out 2 Golden Eagles in 3 innings pitched. Freshman
Sarah Basket closed out the game for the Blue Devils, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs scored for the Golden Eagles. Basket struck out 3 Golden Eagles in 4 innings pitched.
