VIERA, Fla. - The Lawrence Tech softball team headed out to Viera, Florida for their spring training in the Space Coast Classic on Sunday. The Blue Devils faced Saint Francis Indiana in game 1 winning 2-1, and Mount Mary in game 2 winning 6-3. Lawrence Tech is now 9-9 on their season.
Game 1:
The Blue Devils started off the game down 1-0 after the Cougars outfielder hit a double, scoring a Cougar that was on base in the first inning. Lawrence Tech started their comeback in the sixth inning with sophomore
Chloe Hug hitting a double which scored sophomore
Alyssa Bloomfield and freshman
Zoey Markey to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead. Markey and junior
Gloriana Su'a both had a hit. Senior
Clover Brandt pitched for the Blue Devils allowing 4 hits for the Cougars, and 1 run scored. Brandt struck out 1 Cougar in 7 innings pitched.
Game 2:
The Blue Devils scored first as junior
Lily Morrissette reached on an error by the Lancers catcher which scored freshman Abby Garnder. Mount Mary's third baseman broke the tie by hitting a home run in the third inning which scored two runners, making the score 2-1. The Blue Devils wasted no time coming back as sophomore
Alyssa Bloomfield doubled, bringing in senior
Mazie Lawler to score. Mount Mary scored another run in the fifth after a triple from their shortstop. Lawrence Tech's junior
Gloriana Su'a doubled with bases loaded which scored three runs. Freshman
Zoey Markey singled, scoring Su'a which ended up being the last run scored of the game. Freshman
Ashlyn Bloomfield pitched for the Blue Devils allowing 5 hits for the Lancers, and 3 runs scored.

Sarah Basket closed out for the Blue Devils, allowing 1 hit, 0 runs scored, and struck out 2 Lancers.
The Blue Devils are right back at it Thursday morning at 10am against No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan, 12:15pm against St. Thomas (Fla.), and 7pm against No. 10 Marian.
