ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech softball team headed out to Concordia Ann Arbor on Wednesday evening for another WHAC double header.The Blue Devils split the day with taking game 1, 4-2 and falling in game 2, 6-7. Lawrence Tech is now 8-4 in conference and 19-18 on their overall season. The Cardinals are now 6-4 in conference and 24-10 on their overall season.
Game 1:
The first four innings was scoreless until junior
Lily Morrissette hit a home run in the fifth inning to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Chloe Hug joined the home run train as she hit a homer in the sixth inning, making the score 2-0. Senior
Mazie Lawler hit a single out to right field, which scored freshman
Jocelyn Hall in the sixth inning. Morrissette scored herself another run by stealing home, making the score 4-0 in the sixth inning. The Cardinals attempted to come back by hitting a home run, scoring 2 runs. The Cardinals could not complete the comeback resulting in the Blue Devils victory. Senior
Clover Brandt pitched for the Blue Devils, allowing 5 hits for the Cardinals and 2 runs scored. Brandt struck out 1 Cardinal in 7 innings pitched.
Game 2:
The Blue Devils snagged the lead early with junior
Gloriana Su'a singling through the left side, scoring freshman
Ashlyn Bloomfield in the first inning. As. Bloomfield singled out to left field in the second inning which scored freshman
Zoey Markey. Concordia scored a run in the third inning starting their comeback. The Cardinals came back in the fifth inning scoring 5 runs, making the score 5-2. The Blue Devils started to attempt to come back scoring 3 runs in the sixth inning, only trailing by 1 run. Su'a tied the game up hitting a home run in the top of the seventh inning. The cardinals ended the game in the bottom of the seventh by scoring a run, ending the game at 7-6. Sophomore
Mikayla Timm pitched for the Blue Devils, allowing 7 hits for the Cardinals and 4 runs scored. Timm struck out 1 Cardinal in 4.1 innings pitched. Freshman
Sarah Basket closed out for the Blue Devils, allowing 4 hits for the Cardinals and 3 runs scored. Basket struck out 2 Cardinals in 2.1 innings pitched.
The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday afternoon hosting University of Northwestern Ohio for another WHAC double header at 1 and 3pm.
