FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech softball team headed out to Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon for another WHAC double header.The Blue Devils swept the day winning in game 1, 5-4 in extra innings and winning in game 2, 5-2. Lawrence Tech is now 11-9 in conference and 22-23 on their overall season. The Wolverines are now 5-15 in conference and 7-29 on their overall season.
Game 1:
The Wolverines grabbed the early lead in the first inning scoring three runs. Junior
Gloriana Su'a reached first on an error by the second baseman, which lead freshman
Zoey Markey to give the Blue Devils their first run in the third inning. Junior
Morgan James singled to left field, scoring junior
Larissa Mercado in the fourth inning. Sophomore
Chloe Hug singled to third base, scoring freshman
Ashlyn Bloomfield in the fifth inning, tying the game at 3. The game reached the the seventh inning and still a tie game so the game headed into extra innings. The Blue Devils came out big in the eighth inning starting with junior
Chloe Carpenter singling out to second base and Hug scoring off a Wolverine error. That play was followed up with a home run by James making the score 5-3. The Wolverines attempted to come back in the bottom of the eighth but could only score one run on the Blue Devils. Senior
Clover Brandt pitched for the Blue Devils allowing 5 hits and 4 runs scored for the Wolverines. Brandt struck out 5 Wolverines in 8 innings pitched.
Game 2:
The Blue Devils grabbed the lead this time with James hitting a sacrificed fly out to center field, which scored in sophomore
Alyssa Bloomfield in the first inning. Markey reached first on an error by 1b and scored in sophomore
Ainsley Colman in the fourth inning and Al. Bloomfield singled to left field scoring Markey and freshman
Abby Gardner, making the score 4-0. Colman doubled to left field in the fifth inning, scoring
Lily Morrissette. The Wolverines attempted to come back in the sixth inning but could only score two runs. Sophomore
Mikayla Timm pitched for the Blue Devils allowing 3 hits and 2 runs scored for the Wolverines. Timm struck out 3 Wolverines in 7 innings pitched.
The Blue Devils are back in action Sunday afternoon against Rochester Christian for another WHAC double header at 1 and 3pm.
