SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University Men's Lacrosse team hosted RV Madonna on Wednesday Evening. The Blue Devils beat the Crusaders 17-15. The Blue Devils are now 2-2 in conference play and 3-5 overall this season, while the Crusaders now are 2-2 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
The Crusaders came out firing, scoring four goals off the bat. However, the Blue Devils scored three goals immediately.following to cut the Crusaders lead to one. Madonna opened up the second quarter scoring four more goals. Junior Jonathan Richter scored for the Blue Devils making the score 8-4 in favor of Madonna. Madonna scored one more goal in the second quarter, and the Blue Devils started their comeback scoring three goals closing out the first half down 9-7.
Junior Grady Holmes and junior Nick Soukup opened up the scoring in the second half, 1 from Holmes, 2 from Soukup, taking th lead 10-9. The Crusaders broke the Blue Devils lead, scoring two goals. However the Blue Devils tied the game back up with a goal from sophomore Trevor Donohue to end the third quarter. Senior Eli Lozinski opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter, breaking the tie once again. However, Madonna tied the game back up shortly after Lozinski's goal. Lozinski scored another goal and Madonna went on to score another goal as well. The Blue Devils scored two more goals taking a two goal lead. The Crusaders were able to score one more goal and Holmes closed out the game scoring another goal, ending the game at a 17-15 win for the Blue Devils.
Sophomore Jarret Willershausen played in goal for the Blue Devils, facing 25 shots and saving 10 of those shots.
Holmes broke two Blue Devils Lacrosse records tonight, with the most career goals (93) and most career points (137). Holmes (6 goals & 2 assists) and Ryan Pastorino (1 goal & 7 assists) led the Blue Devils in points tonight with 8.
