Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team kicked off the 2024 season on the road in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Thursday afternoon at the Onset Volleyball Invitational Tournament. The Blue Devils started the season with a win against in-state opponent Spring Arbor University. Led by a senior-heavy roster, the Blue Devils took the first set with a score of 25-17. The Cougars quickly bounced back in the second set, beating the Blue Devils 25-21. However, it wouldn't prove to be enough, as Lawrence Tech went on to win the next two sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-14, capturing their first win of the 2024 season. Maria Trevino led the Blue Devils with 27.5 points, while senior Lindsay Hubler finished with 16.5 points, including three aces.

 In the second match of the tournament, the Blue Devils fell to the Red Hawks of Indiana University Northwest in a 3-2 battle. The Blue Devils, coming off a first-round win against Spring Arbor University, had hoped to continue their early success. Led by junior Charley Klint, the Blue Devils fell just short of victory as they battled late into the fifth set. Starting with a first-set win, 25-18, the Blue Devils lost back-to-back sets, 27-29 in the second and 23-25 in the third, before bouncing back in the must-win fourth set, 27-25, to force a fifth set. While they clawed their way back into the match, they fell just short in the fifth and final set, 12-15, to round out the day.

The women's volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Red Wolves of Indiana University East on the second day of the Onset Volleyball Invitational Tournament. The Red Wolves are 3-1 going into the match with Lawrence Tech on Friday at 11 a.m.
