Blue Devils Capture Victory In WHAC Regular Season Opener

SOUTHFIELD, MICH. – The Lawrence Tech University Women's Volleyball team was back in action Wednesday night as they traveled to Rochester Hills, Michigan, to take on the Warriors of Rochester Christian University. The Blue Devils entered the match up with an overall record of 2-4 after playing three games over the Labor Day weekend in the Siena Heights Tournament. They finished 1-2 over the weekend and hoped to get back in the win column with a victory against WHAC opponent Rochester Christian.
The Blue Devils started the first set hot, winning 25-18. They aimed to carry this momentum into the second set and secure an early victory with a win in the third set.
LTU did just that, capturing the second set 25-18 and going up 2-0 in the match. The third set proved to be challenging for the Blue Devils, as they fought hard to shut out the Warriors and secure the match victory. Lawrence Tech succeeded, hanging on in a hard-fought third set to win the match 3-0.
The Blue Devils were led offensively by sophomore Maria Trevino-Nunez, who finished with 11 points, followed by senior Riley O'Connell with 9 points. On the defensive side, senior Juliana Bollini led the way with an impressive 23 digs.
Lawrence Tech will look to continue their success as they travel to Sylvania, Ohio, next Wednesday to take on another WHAC opponent, the Gray Wolves of Lourdes University.
