Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils Fall to Bethel in Val Weinstein Classic Basketball Showdown

WINONA  LAKE, Ind. - In a challenging outing, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils faced a tough loss against Bethel University (Ind.) in the Val Weinstein Classic hosted at the MOCC on November 7th, 2025. The game concluded with the Blue Devils falling 52-84 to their opponents.

The match started with Bethel establishing an early lead with precise plays and three-pointers by Joslyn Marshall. Throughout the first period, Bethel's offensive pressure mounted, creating an 11-point gap by the quarter's end, with the score at 22-11. Key plays included critical three-point shots by LaChelle Moreland-Jones for LTU, who was a notable performer throughout the game.

As the game progressed into the second quarter, Bethel's Jazmyn Smith spearheaded fast-break layups that exacerbated the scoring difference, leaving LTU struggling on both ends of the court. By halftime, Bethel had increased their lead extensively, with the scoreboard reading 44-18.

In the third period, despite spirited efforts from LTU's Moreland-Jones and Bailie Stephens, who sunk significant three-pointers, Bethel's home court advantage and strategic plays by Gracie Lambes and Olivia Nickerson broadened their lead even further to a daunting 69-39.

The final quarter saw LTU attempting a comeback with successive three-pointers from Paetyn Miller, aiming to narrow the gap. However, Bethel maintained their solid gameplay, ending the game on a high with additional points secured by Joslyn Marshall and Allison Metzger, marking the final score at 84-52.

Despite the loss, individual performances from the Blue Devils were commendable. Moreland-Jones led with 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Sierra Robinson provided pivotal support with 5 assists and 3 steals.

Looking ahead, the Blue Devils prepare to face Grace College (Ind.) at the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center in Winona Lake, Ind., on November 8, 2025, as they aim to rebound from the current 1-2 season record.
