Blue Devils Secure Tough Victory Over Cornerstone University

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - In a fiercely contested WHAC Conference basketball game held at the Don Ridler Fieldhouse, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils triumphed over Cornerstone University with a final score of 73-63 on December 16, 2025. The men's game demonstrated strong performances from both teams, with the Blue Devils showcasing a notable comeback in the first and second periods.

The first period began with Cornerstone University taking an early 9-point lead, sparked by Blake Stewart's accurate shooting. However, the Blue Devils responded robustly, primarily through Damian Thompson, who sank several key 3-pointers. A significant play was made by Vuk Zarubica's layup following Lake McIntosh's assist, cutting into Cornerstone's early dominance. By the end of the first period, the score was 37-33 in favor of Lawrence Tech.

Continuing their momentum in the second period, the Blue Devils led by Damian Thompson and Davin Walker, extended their lead with consistent scoring from beyond the arc. Thompson and Walker's 3-pointers were a highlight, along with Luka Uzelac's dynamic presence inside with multiple layups and rebounds. Blake Stewart continued to put up a fight for Cornerstone, but Lawrence Tech's offense proved too strong. The periodic defense and offensive strategies led the Blue Devils to expand their lead to over 12 points, concluding the competition with a ten-point margin.

Top performers included Damian Thompson with his crucial 3-pointers and 22 overall points, and Vuk Zarubica, who not only scored 14 points but also provided six key assists and captured three steals. Lake McIntosh and Luka Uzelac contributed effectively with significant rebounds and integral plays.

The next challenge for the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils is set against Huntington University on December 31, 2025, at Huntington, Ind. The Blue Devils currently hold a record of 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference, looking to continue their strong form into the upcoming game.
