Lawrence Tech University Women's Basketball Falls to Madonna in WHAC Conference Final

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - In the season's high-stakes finale at Don Ridler Fieldhouse on February 22, 2025, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils women's basketball team faced a tough match against Madonna University in the WHAC Conference final. Despite valiant efforts, the Blue Devils were defeated 73-57 by Madonna, ending their regular season with a challenging game.

From the onset of the competition, Madonna established a decisive lead, finishing the first period upfront by nine points. The Blue Devils' stars, Kate Jacobs with 15 points and Maggie Long with 14 points and 4 steals, put on spirited performances, yet the opposing team widened the gap to a 17-point lead by halftime. Abby Rey and Maddux Locke also stood out for Lawrence Tech, contributing key assists and rebounds, which showcased the team's persistent fight.

The critical moments of the game occurred in the second quarter when Madonna expanded their lead significantly, effectively sealing the game's momentum. Madonna's strong defensive rebounding and key plays by theirs secured their dominance well into the second half. Abby Rey's three-pointer in the final period was a highlight for LTU, but Madonna's consistent execution kept them in the lead.

The Blue Devils will now shift their focus to the upcoming WHAC Conference tournament and await to see who they will play in the first round.
