Women's Lacrosse Narrowly Defeated by No. 1 SCAD Savannah in a Thrilling Lacrosse Encounter

BALTIMORE, Md. - In a high-scoring, intense lacrosse contest held at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils suffered a narrow defeat against the top-ranked SCAD Savannah Bees on February 22, 2025. The game, which was part of the regular season schedule, ended with a final score of 20-17 in favor of SCAD Savannah.

The first half showed promising action with Lawrence Tech trailing by just four goals, the halftime scoreboard reading 11-7 in favor of SCAD Savannah. The Blue Devils demonstrated resilience, fighting ably against the formidable Bees. Among the standout players for Lawrence Tech were senior duo Alaina Smythe and Sydney Robinson, who collectively scored ten goals and contributed five assists. Smythe's performance was particularly notable, netting six goals and providing three assists, making her an indispensable player in this closely contested event.

Goalkeeping duties were ably handled by freshman Madison Gugala, who made an impressive 13 saves from 33 shots. Her efforts were crucial in keeping the Blue Devils in contention throughout the game against the aggressive play of the Bees.
