ADDISON, Ill. – Lawrence Tech University's Blue Devils men's bowling team turned in a strong performance at the Kegal Midwest Collegiate Classic at Stardust Bowl, finishing fifth in a loaded 68-team Tier 1 field with a team total of 8,627 pins.
Behind a trio of top-25 individual performances, the Blue Devils positioned themselves among the top programs in the event. Lawrence Tech's 8,627 total pinfall over the six-team qualifying block kept the team near the top of the standings throughout the day and was enough to secure a top-five finish against some of the deepest competition on the collegiate schedule.
Ayden Davis led the way for the Blue Devils, placing 15th individually after five games. Davis posted games of 194, 202, 229, 258 and 252 for a total of 1,135 pins, averaging 227.0. After a steady start, he surged over the final three games, closing with back-to-back 250-plus efforts that helped solidify both his individual placement and Lawrence Tech's team standing.
Michael Martins added another high finish for Lawrence Tech, taking 24th individually. Martins rolled games of 198, 210, 236, 245 and 209 to finish with 1,098 pins and a 219.6 average. His climb through the middle of the block, highlighted by the 236 and 245 games, provided important support as the Blue Devils maintained their position in the top tier of the standings.
Quinton Cayko delivered one of the team's most efficient performances, placing 14th while bowling just four games. Cayko recorded scores of 217, 255, 203 and 234, averaging 227.3. His 255 game ranked among the Blue Devils' highest single games of the day and gave the lineup a significant lift during a key stretch of the block as teams jockeyed for position.
With three players inside the top 25 individually and a total pinfall of 8,627, the Blue Devils demonstrated depth and scoring balance at Stardust Bowl. The fifth-place showing in a 68-team Tier 1 field reinforces Lawrence Tech's status as a contender on the national stage as the season moves deeper into its collegiate schedule.
Lawrence Tech will look to build on the momentum from the Midwest Collegiate Classic as the Blue Devils continue through the second half of the campaign and prepare for upcoming conference and postseason events.
