SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Lawrence Tech Men's Basketball knocked off No. 12 Indiana Tech 86–76 on Thursday night at Don Ridler Fieldhouse, using a barrage of 3-pointers and a decisive late free-throw sequence to close out a key WHAC conference win.
The Blue Devils led 44–37 at halftime and never surrendered the advantage, outscoring Indiana Tech 42–39 in the second half. Lawrence Tech finished 16-for-37 from beyond the arc and held a 45–25 edge on the glass, offsetting a 40-point performance from Indiana Tech guard Jaxson Fugate.
Lake McIntosh paced Lawrence Tech with 21 points on 7-for-14 shooting, knocking down 5 of 8 attempts from 3-point range while adding eight rebounds, two steals and a block. Michael Afrakoff added 20 points, also hitting five 3-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 at the line. Davin Walker provided a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, including a key driving layup in the closing seconds of the first half that pushed the Blue Devils' lead back to seven heading into the locker room.
Lawrence Tech seized control early in the second half with back-to-back perimeter bursts. McIntosh drilled a 3-pointer with 18:17 remaining to extend the margin, part of a stretch where the Blue Devils repeatedly answered Indiana Tech baskets from long range. Moments later, Afrakoff connected from deep at the 16:07 mark to make it 58–41, giving Lawrence Tech its largest cushion and forcing Indiana Tech to chase the game the rest of the way.
Indiana Tech, ranked No. 12 and entering as one of the WHAC's top teams, stayed within reach behind Fugate's efficient scoring. Fugate finished 13-for-20 from the field, 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 11-for-12 at the free-throw line, adding seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Evan Haroldson chipped in 16 points and three 3-pointers, including a shot from distance just before halftime that briefly cut the deficit to 42–37 before Walker's response at the rim.
The Warriors made several pushes in the final minutes, but Lawrence Tech's rebounding edge and perimeter shooting repeatedly stalled rallies. The Blue Devils collected 13 offensive rebounds, leading to extended possessions and additional 3-point attempts. While Indiana Tech forced 16 turnovers and generated 11 steals, Lawrence Tech countered with five blocked shots and a strong defensive rebounding effort that limited second-chance opportunities.
The outcome was ultimately decided at the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds. With Lawrence Tech protecting an 83–74 lead, McIntosh calmly converted two free throws at the 0:26 mark to make it 85–74. Fugate answered quickly in transition with a fast-break layup to cut the margin to 85–76, but Kerem Sariaslan sank a free throw with 15 seconds remaining to restore a double-digit lead at 86–76, a score that held to the final buzzer.
Lawrence Tech finished the night shooting 43.5 percent from the field (27-for-62), 43.2 percent from 3-point range and 72.7 percent at the line. Indiana Tech shot 43.8 percent overall and 28 percent from deep (7-for-25), going 13-for-17 at the stripe. The victory gives the Blue Devils a signature WHAC result at home against a nationally ranked opponent as conference play continues.
