VIERA WEST, Fla. — Lawrence Tech's offense exploded in Friday's doubleheader at the Space Coast Complex as the Blue Devils earned a dominant sweep with run-rule victories over Fisher (Mass.) and Kent State Tuscarawas.
In game one, Lawrence Tech rolled to a 25-2 win over Fisher in five innings after scoring 20 runs in the first two frames. The Blue Devils plated eight runs in the first and added 12 more in the second to take complete control early.
Delaney Monroe powered the offense, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored. Emmie Fowler added a strong performance, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Alexis Lana scored four runs, drove in two and stole three bases. Lawrence Tech totaled 14 hits, drew 16 walks and stole 14 bases in the victory while limiting Fisher to just three hits.
In game two, the Blue Devils continued their offensive momentum with a 16-0 five-inning win over Kent State Tuscarawas.
Lawrence Tech jumped out to a six-run first inning and never looked back. Sarah Basket delivered a dominant all-around performance, tossing a complete-game one-hitter with four strikeouts while also going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and five RBIs.
Zoey Markey sparked the offense with a triple, double, two RBIs, four runs scored and two stolen bases, while Sophia Propps added a two-run double and Jacqui LeBlanc recorded three hits and an RBI. The Blue Devils finished with 15 hits and six stolen bases while playing error-free defense.
The sweep continued a strong spring break stretch for Lawrence Tech as the team prepared to close out its Florida schedule at the Space Coast Complex. The Blue Devils currently sit at 10-4 on the season and 7-3 in the Space Coast Spring Games with two more to play tomorrow evening.
