Fast Start, Fourth-Quarter Surge Lift Lawrence Tech Past Siena Heights 10-6

ADRIAN, Mich. — A dominant start and a late offensive surge carried Lawrence Tech to a 10-6 road win over Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon, capped by a three-goal burst early in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach.

The Blue Devils opened with four unanswered goals and never trailed, riding a six-point outing from Luke Gannon to control the nonconference matchup. Gannon finished with four goals and two assists, including the final tally of the first quarter and two more in the second half that helped Lawrence Tech maintain separation whenever Siena Heights threatened.

Lawrence Tech set the tone in the first quarter, building a 3-0 cushion behind a man-up goal from Gannon and strikes from Parker Gannon and another from Luke Gannon late in the frame. Trevor Donohue pushed the lead to 4-0 just 30 seconds into the second quarter on a feed from Brendan Shinavier before Siena Heights finally broke through on a goal by Sean Jablonski to make it 4-1 at the break.

The Blue Devils reasserted control coming out of halftime. Max Viviano opened the third-quarter scoring at 11:01 on an assist from Gannon, and after Siena Heights closed to 5-3 behind goals from Jablonski and Joey Keck, Gannon answered again with 2:43 left in the quarter off a Shinavier assist to restore a three-goal margin at 6-3 heading to the fourth.

Lawrence Tech then delivered the decisive stretch in the opening minutes of the final quarter. Viviano scored just 46 seconds into the fourth, again assisted by Gannon, and Gannon followed with his fourth goal 33 seconds later to extend the lead to 8-3. Shinavier added a goal at 9:24 on a setup from Viviano, and Parker Gannon's second of the day with 4:27 remaining pushed the advantage to 10-5 before Keck's late goal for Siena Heights closed the scoring.

The Blue Devils' offense generated sustained pressure throughout, out shooting Siena Heights 44-27 and placing 29 shots on goal. Lawrence Tech also controlled possession at the faceoff X, winning 13 of 20 draws, and held a 34-13 advantage in ground balls while forcing 40 turnovers. Goalie Dylan Porter finished with six saves on 27 shots faced, backstopping a defensive effort that held Siena Heights to one goal in each of the first three quarters.

Individually, Gannon led the Blue Devils with four goals and two assists, while Viviano added two goals and one assist and Shinavier contributed one goal and two assists. Parker Gannon chipped in two goals. For Siena Heights, Keck posted three goals and one assist and Jablonski recorded two goals and one assist. Despite the loss, Siena goalie Alyx Walker turned in a standout performance with 19 saves against 44 shots faced. The Blue Devils will now shift their focus to their next matchup against U of M Dearborn March 18th in Dearborn, MI.
