Blue Devils End Day Three With A Split Against Mount Marty University!

VIERA, Fla. — Evan McIntyre delivered a pair of sacrifice flies, including the go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning, to lift Lawrence Tech to a 3–2 win over Mount Marty in a match up at Space Coast Complex.

With the score tied 2–2 in the bottom of the seventh, Ty Schornak jump-started the Blue Devils' decisive rally with a double. McIntyre followed later in the frame with a deep fly to bring Schornak home, giving Lawrence Tech its first lead since the second inning and proving to be the difference in a tight, seven-inning contest.

Right-hand Max Coughlin set the tone on the mound for the Blue Devils, working six solid innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out four, keeping Lawrence Tech within striking distance after Mount Marty briefly seized momentum. The Blue Devils' staff combined to allow just two runs on four hits with no errors behind them, needing only 78 pitches to navigate seven innings.

Lawrence Tech opened the scoring in the second. After D'Andrea Parnell reached and moved into scoring position, McIntyre lifted his first sacrifice fly of the day to give the Blue Devils a 1–0 lead. Mount Marty answered quickly in the top of the third with a two-run home run, swinging the lead to the Lancers at 2–1.

The Blue Devils responded in the bottom half of the third. Justin Baird drove a double to the outfield, and an ensuing throwing error by the Mount Marty right fielder allowed the tying run to come across, knotting the game at 2–2. Baird finished with a double, an RBI and a walk as part of Lawrence Tech's three-hit day, while the Blue Devils also used two doubles, a triple and two stolen bases to manufacture offense.

Mount Marty was effective through five innings, surrendering just two earned runs, but the Lancers could not capitalize on early extra-base power. The Lancers were limited to four hits and left four runners on base.

Lawrence Tech, which played error-free defense and stranded four Mount Marty runners, made its late opportunity count in the seventh to secure the 3–2 decision in front of 219 fans on a clear, breezy day in Florida. The win adds another close-game result to the Blue Devils' early-season slate as they continue their spring trip with momentum.

In game two a pair of big early innings put Lawrence Tech in a deep hole, and a late offensive push was not enough as the Blue Devils fell 16-7 to Mount Marty in at Space Coast Complex.

Mount Marty set the tone with a seven-run second inning and a six-run third to build a 14-0 lead after three. Lawrence Tech responded with five runs in the top of the fourth and added two more in the sixth, but the Lancers' early cushion held on.

The Lancers loaded the bases and pushed across seven runs, highlighted by a two-run double and an RBI double, to make it 8-0. Mount Marty continued to apply pressure in the third, stringing together six more runs to stretch the advantage to 14-0 behind a lineup that finished with 14 hits, including two triples and two doubles.

Lawrence Tech answered with its best inning in the top of the fourth, showcasing the lineup's resilience. The Blue Devils sent nine hitters to the plate and produced five runs to trim the deficit to 14-5. Ty Schornak sparked the surge with a two-run double, and Matt Dell'unto followed with a two-run single as Lawrence Tech capitalized on traffic on the bases and began to chip away at the Mount Marty lead.

Mount Marty responded immediately in the bottom half of the fourth. The Lancers added another run in the fifth, and while the Blue Devils kept applying pressure — finishing with nine hits, five walks and a hit-by-pitch while leaving eight runners on base — the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Lawrence Tech continued to compete in the sixth, adding two more runs to close the gap. Gavin Martinkowski lined an RBI single and Brady Doelle followed with an RBI double to make it 16-7, capping the Blue Devils' scoring. Schornak led the way offensively for Lawrence Tech with two hits, including a double, a run scored and two RBI as the Blue Devils outscored Mount Marty 7-2 over the final four innings.

On the day, Lawrence Tech finished with seven runs on nine hits and did not commit an error, while Mount Marty scored 16 on 14 hits and used an aggressive approach on the bases to steal five bags. The Blue Devils' pitching staff worked six innings, striking out four and throwing 132 pitches, as Mount Marty's early outburst proved decisive despite Lawrence Tech's late offensive surge.
