FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - In the first game of Friday's doubleheader, Lawrence Tech fell to Madonna with a final score of 6-1. Madonna jumped to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning highlighted by a Madonna home run that brought in three. LTU struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Madonna's pitchers, who combined to allow only four hits. The Blue Devils' lone run came in the fourth inning when
Sophia Propps hit a solo home run to center field. Despite the home run and a solid relief effort from
Natilee Pridemore, who pitched 3.2 innings while allowing no earned runs, LTU was unable to close the gap as Madonna added two more insurance runs in the fourth to secure the win.
The second game saw an even more explosive offensive performance from Madonna, resulting in a 10-4 defeat for Lawrence Tech. Madonna's power was on full display as they launched four home runs. Lawrence Tech remained competitive early on, answering a four-run Madonna third inning with two runs of their own via a two-run double from Brenna Crittenden. The Blue Devils added two more runs in the fourth inning with a Sarah Basket homer. However, Madonna's consistent scoring across five different innings proved too much for the LTU pitching staff to contain, leading to a sweep for the visiting team.
The Blue Devils will be back in action on April 8th for a doubleheader against Michigan-Dearborn.
