DECATUR, Ala. - Benedictine (KS) broke the game open with a dominant first half and went on to defeat Lawrence Tech 24-4 in Decatur, Ala. The Ravens led 7-1 after the first quarter, added eight more goals in the second, and controlled the draw throughout to take command early.
Lawrence Tech finished with four goals on 15 shots, including 12 shots on goal, while Benedictine scored 24 times on 35 shots and put 32 attempts on frame. Benedictine's decisive stretch came over the opening two quarters, when it built a 15-1 halftime lead behind balanced scoring and a steady edge in possession.
The Blue Devils got three goals from Bella Louwerse, who accounted for most of the team's offense and scored twice in the fourth quarter. Morgan Waligora added Lawrence Tech's other goal in the third quarter, with Alyson Walendzak collecting the assist on the play that made it 17-2. Lawrence Tech recorded two assists as a team and added nine draw controls, but Benedictine's 18 draws and 16 ground balls helped keep the pressure on across all four quarters.
Benedictine was led by a six-goal performance along with a four goal and one assist contribution. Their highest player possession was 10 draw controls and five ground balls. Benedictine totaled 10 assists and converted its lone power-play chance, getting a man-up goal with 12:43 remaining in the fourth quarter for a 22-3 lead.
In goal, Lawrence Tech and Benedictine each received eight saves from their respective keepers. The Blue Devils were credited with eight total saves while working through Benedictine's high-volume attack. Lawrence Tech also completed 12 clears, but 16 turnovers and Benedictine's success on second-chance possessions limited chances to build sustained momentum.
