Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Blue Devils set the tone early in front of their home crowd. In the 20th minute, Lawrence Tech struck first when defender Jorge Torrecillas found the back of the net off a precise assist from Pedro Roses.
Lawrence Tech extended its lead late in the first half. After a foul inside the box drew a yellow card against Marian goalkeeper Ricardo Marquez, Timotej Murcko calmly stepped up and buried a penalty kick in the 39th minute to make it 2-0.
Marian refused to head into the locker room empty-handed, answering right before the break. The offensive floodgates completely opened in the second half. Lawrence Tech regained its multi-goal cushion in the 57th minute when Murcko drew another penalty and converted his second spot-kick of the afternoon. Just two minutes later, Alejandro Iglesias capitalized on another Roses assist, stretching the Lawrence Tech lead to a commanding 4-1. Marian showed immense resilience, answering almost immediately. As Marian pushed forward to close the gap, the Blue Devils found the decisive dagger.
