FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball team closed out the Onset Volleyball Invitational in dominant fashion on Saturday, earning a pair of four-set victories over Midway University and West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
The Blue Devils kicked off the day by bouncing back from an early deficit to defeat Midway, 3-1 (18-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16).
After dropping the opening set, LTU completely took control of the match behind a lethal performance from the service line, finishing with 19 total aces. Maria Trevino and Ella Aberlich led the charge, with Trevino tallying nine kills and five aces, while Aberlich chipped in six kills and six aces. Dru Temple directed the attack with 19 assists and four aces, while Emily Hagelthorn anchored the defense with a match-high 21 digs.
LTU kept the momentum rolling into their second match of the afternoon, taking down WVU Tech, 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 27-29, 25-20).
The Blue Devils came out firing to take the first two sets before WVU Tech fought back in a thrilling 29-27 third set. LTU responded in the fourth to shut the door and secure the victory. The offense posted 61 total kills, powered by 15 kills apiece from Trevino and Kyndal James, who hit a blistering .737. Aberlich added 13 kills, while Temple put together a massive double-double with 53 assists and 14 digs. Hagelthorn was once again a force in the back row, matching her daily high with 21 digs.
With Saturday's sweep, Lawrence Tech finishes the opening weekend of the 2026 season with a 3-1 record.
