Kayla Rousseau put Lawrence Tech ahead early, striking the first goal of the match at the 4:15 mark.
Rousseau struck again in the 21st minute, tracking down an accurate pass from
Abigail Gray to slide the ball into the net and stretch the Blue Devils' lead to 2-0.
Lawrence Tech's defense stood firm throughout the first 45 minutes, keeping the Red Wolves entirely off the scoreboard heading into halftime.
Just seconds into the second half, Indiana East found an opening and scored to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Red Wolves continued to apply heavy offensive pressure, firing multiple shots at the Lawrence Tech net completing the comeback to tie the match at 2-2.
The equalizer ignited a chaotic sequence of counter-attacks. Merely a minute after losing the lead, Lawrence Tech responded when
Hinana Takashima answered with an unassisted goal at 75:51 to make it 3-2.
The battle wasn't over. In the 87th minute, Indiana East found life yet again when they found the back of the net, tying the score at 3-3 with only four minutes left on the clock.
However, the Red Wolves' celebration was short-lived. Just 37 seconds later,
Kayla Rousseau capped off a spectacular individual performance, burying her third goal of the afternoon to claim a hat trick and secure the thrilling 4-3 victory for the Blue Devils.
Their next match will be against Bethel University August 28 at Blue Devils Stadium in Southfield, Mich.
