Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saints established an early presence on their home pitch, testing the Blue Devils' backline right from the opening whistle. Holy Cross caught a major break in the 11th minute when the defense fired a strike that rattled off the post. The breakthrough came when they found the back of the net off a precise assist to put Holy Cross up 1-0.
Lawrence Tech's offense searched for a counter-punch, heavily relying on forward John Assenmacher. Assenmacher unleashed a pair of late first-half shots, but both sailed just wide of the framework, leaving LTU down by one at intermission.
Any halftime adjustments by the Blue Devils were quickly compromised by a clinical Holy Cross attack early in the second frame doubling their lead. 
LTU continued to battle late into the match, winning four corner kicks in the second half. But ultimately fell short to the Saints 3-0.
Their next match is Saturday, August 29, on the road in Joliet, Ill. against the University of St. Francis (Ill.).
