SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Lawrence Tech takes the 3-1 victory over Northwestern Ohio. The Blue Devils took complete control early in the first half, striking twice in a span of just five seconds.
Kayla Rousseau opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 11:20 mark, and immediately following the reset,
Kendall Croteau found the back of the net off an assist from
Abigail Gray to extend the lead to 2-0. Lawrence Tech dominated the first-half offensive pressure, out shooting the Racers 6-4 before heading into the break.
The Racers shifted the momentum early in the second half when they scored an unassisted goal at 47:31 to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Lawrence Tech answered just a few minutes later at 51:04 when
Hinana Takashima buried an unassisted goal of her own to reclaim the two-goal cushion. Despite UNOH earning seven corner kicks throughout the match compared to Lawrence Tech's four, the Blue Devils outshot the Racers 10-9 overall. UNOH goalkeeper made four saves on seven shots on goal, while Lawrence Tech's MC Michalak turned away two of the three shots she faced to seal the 3-1 win, moving the Blue Devils to a 1-0-0 conference record.
Their next game will be Saturday, September 26 in Howell, Mich. against Cleary University.
