SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The scoring opened early in the 8th minute when Calvin converted a penalty kick to put the Knights ahead 1-0. Lawrence Tech responded just nine minutes later when
Finlay MacKintosh found the equalizer unassisted, momentarily leveling the score at 1-1. However, that would be the only breakthrough the Blue Devils would find against the Knights' disciplined defense.
The final ten minutes of the first half proved to be a disaster for Lawrence Tech, as Calvin unleashed a relentless barrage of goals. In the 37th minute with an unassisted strike, and less than a minute later, to quickly extend the lead to 3-1. The Knights then took complete control before the intermission, scoring back-to-back unassisted goals in the 42nd and 44th minutes to send Calvin into the locker room with a commanding 5-1 cushion.
The second half slowed down considerably as both teams utilized heavy substitutions, but Calvin's defense remained stout. Goalkeepers combined for six total saves on the day to keep Lawrence Tech at bay. Calvin added one final insurance goal for the Knights in the 70th minute to cement the 6-1 final score, capping off an incredibly efficient offensive performance.
