ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball team pulled off a thrilling five-set road victory against Rochester Christian University, winning 3-2 (23-25, 28-26, 21-25, 25-17, 16-14) in Rochester Hills. After dropping the opening set 23-25, the Blue Devils fought back in a grueling second set, prevailing 28-26. RCU reclaimed the lead by taking set three 25-21, but LTU answered back with a commanding 25-17 victory in set four to force a deciding fifth set. In the final set, LTU faced an early 0-7 deficit before orchestrating a relentless comeback, ultimately staving off match point to seal the set 16-14 and secure the conference win, improving their season record to 10-9 (2-4 WHAC).
Maria Trevino Nunez spearheaded the LTU attack with a dominant match-high 23 kills while adding nine digs and three block assists. Setter Dru Temple ran the offense with precision, dishing out 45 assists alongside 17 digs and two service aces. Middle blocker Kyndal James provided efficient offense and a strong net presence, recording 11 kills on a .476 hitting percentage to go with six blocks, while Ella Aberlich delivered a versatile line with 11 kills, 10 assists, seven digs, and five blocks. Outside hitter Chloe Winchell also finished in double figures with 11 kills and 13 digs. On defense, libero Emily Hagelthorn anchored the back row with a match-high 25 digs. As a team, the Blue Devils posted 62 kills and 14.5 total blocks to outlast the Warriors in the two-and-a-half-hour marathon.
