SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Blue Devils earned a decisive 2-0 shutout victory over Cornerstone University at home. With the win, the Blue Devils improved their record to 5-3-2 overall and maintained a perfect 3-0-0 mark in conference play.
Lawrence Tech dominated the offensive tempo from the opening whistle, out shooting Cornerstone 8-1 in the first half. The persistent attack finally paid off just seconds before halftime when
Madison Cutler broke the deadlock to score the opening goal at the 44:32 mark, assisted by
Abigail Gray.
The Blue Devils kept their foot on the gas in the second period, matching their first-half performance with another eight shots. In the 70th minute,
Presley Jones extended the lead to 2-0 after finishing a play set up by
Stephanie Crawley at 69:01.
Cornerstone attempted a late push to get back into the match, but Lawrence Tech goalkeeper MC Michalak stood tall, stopping all five shots on goal she faced to lock down the complete-game shutout.
