Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The match began with a lightning strike from the the Blue Devils. Just minutes into the first period, Lawrence Tech's Abigail Gray found open space and buried the ball into the back of the net to give the Blue Devils an early 1-0 lead. Taken aback but far from defeated, Saint Francis regrouped quickly. They began pushing numbers forward, engineering a dangerous corner kick threat.
The Cougars' relentless response paid off in the 13th minute with a equalizer, leveling the score at 1-1. The rest of the first half turned into a tactical defensive chess match. Lawrence Tech's Kayla Rousseau forced two diving saves out of Saint Francis keeper, while Blue Devils goalkeeper Mary Cecilia Michalak matched that energy on the other end to keep the game deadlocked at the halftime whistle.
When the second half commenced, Saint Francis took complete control of the momentum. In the 55th minute, the Cougars broke the tie. Pushing deep into the Blue Devils' defensive third.
Before Lawrence Tech could adjust their alignment, disaster struck again just 46 seconds later. A critical foul inside the box awarded Saint Francis a penalty kick commanding 3-1.
Lawrence Tech tried desperately to mount a comeback, sending in substitutions and bombarding the Saint Francis area. Hinana Takashima and Naiara Ripoll both fired desperate shots toward the goal, but they either sailed wide or were blocked by a disciplined Cougar backline. The defensive highlight of the half came when Lawrence Tech's Megan Rumija made a spectacular goal-line clearance to prevent Saint Francis from adding a fourth.
As the final whistle blew at the 90-minute mark, the scoreboard read1-3 in favor of Saint Francis (Ind.). 
The Blue Devils next match will be on the road against Huntington University (Ind.) Wednesday, September 9.
