Grace Howrigon

Grace Howrigon became the third head coach in Lawrence Tech Blue Devils women's basketball history on July 2, 2019, following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Prior to her time at CC, Howrigon was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2017-18 season at her alma mater Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich. She was also a graduate assistant for the varsity team and head junior varsity coach for the Saints from 2015-17. During the 2015-16 season, she led the Siena Heights JV to a perfect 19-0 record followed by a 17-2 mark the following campaign.

Her 2023-24 LTU squad posted a second-straight 12-17 season and finished tied for sixth place (10-12) in the rugged 12-team Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Jade Faris and Kate Jacobs were named All-WHAC Second Team, and seven Blue Devils were tabbed 2024 Daktronics/NAIA Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes.

Howrigon is the Saints’ career leader in assists with 585 over her four-year career. She also holds the single-season record (214), which she set in 2013-14; and the single-game record of 12 assists on Feb. 20, 2013, against Indiana Tech. Howrigon also holds the second- and third-most single-season assist totals of 206 and 131, which she accumulated in 2012-13 and 2011-12, respectively.

Howrigon’s name peppers the SHU record books in other areas as well. On the career lists, she is tied for third in three-point percentage (35.1), sixth in free throws made (248), sixth in free-throw percentage (75.8), and tied for sixth in three-pointers made (125).

During her senior season in 2013-14, she etched her name in the single-season recordbook as she recorded the fourth-highest free-throw percentage (82.0), fifth-most three-pointers made (70), fifth highest three-point percentage (39.8), fifth-most free throws made (125) and tied for eighth in points in a season (447). That year, she was named All-WHAC First Team and WBCA All-America Honorable Mention. She was previously All-WHAC Honorable Mention in 2012-13.

Howrigon, a 2014 graduate of SHU, earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management. In 2017, she completed her master's degree from the school in organizational leadership.


COACHING ACCOLADES

Lawrence Tech: 69-72 record over five seasons at the helm...developed three-time NAIA All-American point guard Kendall Fisher and many other All-WHAC honorees...in 2019-20 as a first-year head coach, led LTU to the NAIA National Tournament, but it got canceled due to COVID-19...the Blue Devils have reached the WHAC Quarterfinals the last five years.

Colorado College: 12-14 record as the lead assistant...involved in recruiting...helped develop three all-conference student-athletes.

Siena Heights: recruiting coordinator and skill developer...developed four all-conference guards, five all-conference post players; one first-team All-American post player; 61-35 record as assistant coach; 36-2 as reserve head coach.


PLAYING CAREER

Siena Heights - led the Saints in assists in 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14... a member of the program's first team to make a national tournament appearance in 2013...team MVP in 2013 and 2014...team captain in 2014...2014 leadership award winner.
