Biography

LTU
Enrolled at LTU in the Fall of 2021 as a Biomedical Engineering major and is currently heading into her senior season as a Blue Devil. In her true freshman season, Alaina played 18 games and started in 12 of them. She has truly had an impact on the field from her first game, where she had 3 goals and 1 assist. In her career at LTU, she has achieved the WHAC Midfield Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, All-Tournament Team, Second Team All-American, and Second Team All-Conference.
2024
Started in 16 games of the 2024 season, where she scored an impressive 64 goals and had 15 assists. Her biggest game came against Bethel, where she scored nearly half of the team's goals with 9 in a 22-10 victory.
2023 National Champions!
Started in 14 games for the Blue Devils and scored 37 goals with 12 assists. Alaina was off to a strong start this season, scoring 5 goals and an assist in her first game against Cumberlands, which led to a 13-2 victory. She also caused 37 turnovers and picked up 17 ground balls, helping her team on offense and defense. 
2022
Saw action in 18 games of the 2022 season, having 35 goals and 10 assists. Her biggest impact was felt against Rienhadt, where she scored 3 goals, leading the Blue Devils to a 17-10 victory. 
High School
Played for Novi High School, where one of her biggest games came against Salem. She leads her team with 2 goals and 4 assists to a 22-8 victory. The first 20 goal performance by the program since the April of 2019.  She was also Lacrosse All-State Honorable Mention twice and a Tri-sport student-athlete. She also excelled in the classroom as a Summa Cum Laude, a 4-time Academic Honor Roll student, and a 2-time Scholar-Athlete Award winner. 
Personal
Daughter of Joe and Terri Smythe; sister to Mariah, Ethan, and Brendan. She is also a 7-time Dean’s Honor Roll student, All-Academic American, a 3-time WHAC All-Academic Team member, a 2-time Daktronics Scholar-Athlete, President of BMES (Biomedical Engineering Society), Treasurer of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers). She was born on November 18, 2003.
