Andy Richards took over the reins of the women's soccer program in July of 2016. He came to Lawrence Tech from the Michigan Jaguars Soccer Club, where he continues to work as a staff coach and recruiting coordinator.

The 2019 season saw the Blue Devils reach the double-digit win mark (11) while advancing to the WHAC Tournament semifinals. Richards also led LTU to WHAC Tournament appearances in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The 2020 season was greatly affected by COVID, but the team still won six games (four in the WHAC) and qualified for the post-season tournament. The 2021 season led the Blue Devils to an 8-8-3 season where they reached the WHAC Semifinals, with coach Richards mentoring two second-team all-conference players. In the 2023 season saw the Blue Devils reach another double-digit win mark (11), once again advancing to the WHAC Tournament semifinals.

Richards began his collegiate coaching career at Oregon State University, where he was an assistant coach for the Beavers. He holds both the USSF “A” License and the NSCAA Premier Diploma.

After five years at Oregon State, he took the head coaching job at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he led the Falcons for 12 years which included three Mid-American Conference championships and two NCAA tournament appearances.
