Dearborn, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University men's NAIHA team begins the WHAC tournament in the 4th seed facing Concordia University (Mich.) on Friday at 7 p.m. at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena. This opens the WHAC play, and the winner will go on to see the #1 seeded UM-Dearborn on Saturday, March 9th at 3 p.m.
Following a 4-6, 16-13 season, the Blue Devils cruise into the WHAC tournament above Concordia (1-9, 3-19) and Rochester College. Several players have notoriety in the WHAC placing high in stat categories, including Blake Heier (SO/Hartland, MI) who has five power play goals, placing him 6th in the WHAC. Austin Petty (SR/Livonia, MI) sits 5th in the WHAC with a 2.96 Goals Against Average and 1st in saves at 675.
Other notable Blue Devils include Senior Drake Gentile (SR/Clarkston, MI) who broke several Lawrence Tech records this season, including becoming all time goals, assists and points leader in known history.
The Blue Devils are 6-0 against the Concordia Cardinals since Novemebr 2018. In their most recent match-up, Lawrence Tech skated past the Cardinals with a shutout of 7-0. The WHAC championship will be held this Sunday, March 10th at 1 p.m.
