Ottawa, Mich.- The Lawrence Tech Women's Golf program hit the links on Tuesday, September 8th, despite the wet weather that rolled in overnight. That damp weather played in favor of the Blue Devils as they cruised to a First-Place team finish overall beating out Cleary by four strokes.
Overall the Blue Devils saw five golfers finish in the top 25 in the afternoon, with four of them placing in the top five. Sara Davis, the senior from Grosse Ile, Michigan, lead the way for the Blue Devils finishing in the top 3 shooting an 85 on the day take home third place overall. Lauren Hartline, Rachel Kristian, and Manasa Potluri all finished the day shooting 86 overall, causing a three-way tie for fourth place. Fellow Blue Devil Julia Lefere came in tied for twenty-fourth overall, shooting 98 for the afternoon. Meanwhile, Blue Devil Maddy Worrilow shot 100 on the afternoon, tying for 27th place, and Nicole Waldenmeyer rounded out the Blue Devils day shooting 104, tying for 32nd overall.
Coach Marzolino had this to say about the play of the Blue Devils yesterday, "it was a great way to start the season with a win. Very proud of how our team hung in there after a little shaky start to the round. We have so much talent on the team, and it will be exciting to see how we progress over the year."
It marks the first time the Blue Devils had hit the course as a team since back in March when their season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic taking place.
