KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The men's bowling team at Lawrence Tech took home 2nd place on Friday, January 22nd. This was the first of 4 straight Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) bowling jamborees slated for this season.
The WHAC announced on Tuesday, January 19th, that bowling was to be split into two different pods due to the ongoing pandemic plaguing the nation. The Blue Devils placed in Pod A, consisting of WHAC foes, Concordia Ann Arbor, Cleary, Madonna, Cornerstone, and Aquinas. Aquinas hosted the first WHAC Jamboree for Pod A at Continental Lanes located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Blue Devils took home 2nd place finishing with 5227 and 61 pins back from 1st place. Game 1 saw the Blue Devils shoot 1031, game 2 saw them shoot 1059, and round 3 with 1098. In baker play, Lawrence Tech in baker 1 shot 1020 and in baker 2 1019. Lawrence Tech had two players finish in the top-10, with Michael Webber taking home a top-5 finish on the day. Michael Webber shot a 681 total, shooting 212 in round 1, 244 in round 2, and 225 in game 3. Cody Johnston was the other Blue Devil in the top-10, bowling a 668 for the day. Overall, Cody bowled 202 in round 1, 222 in game 2, and 244 in game 3.
Jacob Kujawa bowled a 632 for 14th and a top-15 finish, while Jervon Webster bowled a 623 for 15th and rounding out the top-15. Taran Heersma bowled a 366 for 51st, just missing out on a top-50 finish. Jacob Wilson posted a 218 for the day, finishing 66th on the day for Lawrence Tech.
The Blue Devils alongside, fellow Pod A constituents, head to Sterling Heights, Michigan, for Jamboree 2 being hosted by Lawrence Tech at 5 Star Lanes; the first bowl slated for 9 am on Saturday, January 30th.
