Chicago, Ill. – The Lawrence Technological University men's volleyball team lost a pair of matches to top 10 foes, falling to the #6 University of Jamestown (ND) in straight sets (19-25, 16-25, 23-25) before being swept by #8 Saint Xavier University (10-25, 19-25, 18-25) on Saturday afternoon.
Match One vs #6 University of Jamestown:
First Set:
- Five straight from the Jimmies put them ahead 12-8
- 6-3 run by LTU, capped by a Zach Narkiewicz kill, pulls LTU within one at 15-14
- UJ doubles up Blue Devils (10-5) the rest of the way to win set 25-19
Second Set:
- The Jimmies again get out to 12-8 advantage in the second
- A pair of UJ errors pause the run as LTU trails by three, 13-10
- 10-1 spurt by the Jimmies stretches lead to double digits, 22-11, before they take set 25-16
Third Set
- Simon Phillip finds Perez to give LTU slim 11-9 edge
- 6-2 run buy UJ allows it to retake lead, 15-13
- JT McCarthy capped off four consecutive LTU points to swing the score in the Blue Devils favor, 17-15
- The Jimmies respond with 7-of-9 to go up 22-19 before a service error cuts the margin to just one at 24-23
- UJ ends any comeback attempt with a kill to clinch the match at 25-23

Match Two vs #8 Saint Xavier University:
First Set:
- The Cougars raced out to a 10-4 lead before pushing the margin to 14 at 19-5
- Connor Cooper halted the stretch with run with a kill
- The teams traded points down the stretch as SXU prevailed 25-10
Second Set:
- Zach Narkiewicz pulled LTU within one at 11-10
- 5-of-6 by the Cougars opened up some breathing room at 16-11
- Felix Perez cut the deficit to four, 22-18, but SXU took 3-of-4 to close out the set 25-19
Third Set:
- Jeffry Fuhrmann made it 6-3 LTU early in the third
- Simon Phillip found Fuhrmann again to hold a two-point lead at 14-12
- The Cougars retook the lead with five consecutive points, 17-14
- Perez kept LTU within two, 18-16, but SXU closed out the set with 7-of-9 to win 25-18
