Explosive Offense Leads Blue Devils


Utica, MI - The Lawrence Technological University baseball team played a doubleheader against Madonna University on Sunday. 

How It Happened: Game One - LTU 11, GCU 4
  • Quick and quiet first inning between both teams

  • First to get on the board was Carter Willis, scoring off an LTU error 

  • Answering GCU's run, LTU put up three, off RBIs from Kellen Banaszewski, Trent Matthews and Luke Morrissette in the bottom of the second. 3-1 LTU

  • In the third, Jackson Walkowiak hit a ball deep to right for a home run to extend the Blue Devils lead to 5-1

  • The Blue Devils would score four in the fourth, stretching the lead to 9-1
  • An RBI triple by Walkowiak led to the last run scoring, as LTU dominates GCU 11-4.

How It Happened: Game Two - LTU 18, GCU 1
  • Lorenzo Lopez brought in Jared Garnaat to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead in the first
  • Nick Olsen singled in Nathan Brown to tie it 1-1 in the first
  • The Blue Devils send 17 batters to the plate in the second and score 11 runs in the process
  • LTU added six more in the fourth, on the strength of three hits, two errors, three walks, and two hit batters
  • The teams went quietly over the next three innings
  • The Blue Devils took this one 18-1
