Elida, Ohio - The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball team won both games in day one of the Racer Classic against Stephens College and Montreat College. LTU beat Stephens by scores of 25-21, 17-25, 29-27, 25-18. The Blue Devils beat Montreat by scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.
Game One:
Set One:
Set Two:
- Stephens College was up 13-10 to start
- The Knights scored 10 out of the next 12 points to go up, 12-23
- LTU dropped set two 17-25
Set Three:
- After a Knights attacking error the game was knotted at 11
- Klint's kill gave LTU a 18-15 gap
- The Knights brought the lead back to 23-22 after a Blue Devil attacking error
- Three straight LTU points late by Klint's kill and Riley O'Connell and Madeline Hudson's blocks gave LTU a 29-27 win
Set Four:
- O'Connell made it 16-8 after her kill
- Minutes later O'Connell then extended the lead to 20-11
- Hudson's kill ended the match 25-18
Game Two:
Set One:
- Hudson's kill gave LTU a 13-4 to start
- A couple attack errors by the Cavaliers extended the gap to 22-7
- LTU won set one 25-10
Set Two:
- Hudson made it 10-5 after her kill
- Giving the Blue Devils a 10 point lead was O'Connell
- A kill by Hubler, service ace by Hudson, and an error by the Cavaliers ended set two, 25-14
Set Three:
- Hubler gave the Blue Devils a 12-11 lead after her kill
- Klint extended the lead to three, 17-14
- Two kills by Abby Zambeck and Hubler put LTU up 21-19
- Hubler ended the game on a kill by a score of 25-23
The next Blue Devils match is on Saturday, September 3rd when they play against Goshen College at 11 AM in game one of the Racer Classic. LTU will play against Huntington University in game two at 3 PM.
