SOUTHFIELD, Mich – The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball team opened up its conference slate against an NAIA Nationals tournament team from a season ago in (RV) Cornerstone University, falling 18-25, 15-25, 14-25 to the Golden Eagles on Wednesday evening.
First Set:
- Charley Klint's kill gives LTU slim 7-6 advantage
- CU counters with 8-4 run to put them ahead 14-11 and force LTU timeout
- Riley O'Connell pulled the Blue Devils within one, 16-15, but that's as close as LTU would get, dropping the opening set 25-18
Second Set:
- CU kill gives visitors an early 13-9 lead
- O'Connell's kill trims margin to three, 15-12, but CU takes next three to force LTU timeout
- Hubler finish cuts deficit back to single digits, 22-13 before CU closes out set 25-15
Third Set:
- Golden Eagles fly out to a 10-4 lead
- Back-to-back kills by Madeline Hudson and O'Connell trim the edge in half, 10-7
- CU responds with a 12-5 run to open up a 10-point cushion, 22-12, on way to a 25-14 win
