SOUTHFIELD--Lawrence Tech is back on the road this Saturday (1 p.m.) when the Blue Devils venture to Fort Wayne, Ind., against Saint Francis (Indiana) for a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League clash at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium.

At the Helm: Detroit native Avante Mitchell is 11-18 in his fourth season as the Blue Devils head coach. He first came to LTU in 2019 as the team's defensive coordinator. He also has collegiate coaching experience at Concordia-Ann Arbor, Taylor and NCAA Division II Northwood.

Last Time Out: No. 13-ranked Concordia (Michigan) escaped Blue Devils Stadium with a 24-10 victory to spoil Homecoming on the LTU campus...Lawrence Tech held the Cardinals' explosive offense to 17 points below their 41.5 scoring average and almost 100 yards below what they average in total yards (450.8 ypg)...LTU led 7-0 after one quarter and trailed only 10-7 at halftime...CJ Davidson led all rushers with 102 yards on 20 carries, Jaden Rembert led LTU receivers with three catches and 38 yards, and Andrew Perkins III led all defenders with seven tackles among nine total.

All-Time Series: Lawrence Tech holds a 2-1 advantage versus the Cougars, who were victorious, 59-20, in their first meeting on Nov. 2, 2019...the Blue Devils have won the last two matchups, including their previous trip to USF's home field on Nov. 6, 2021 (31-28)...last season, LTU won 24-19 in Southfield behind a game-winning touchdown pass by Tyler Kulka to Mauricio Jenkins for 15 yards with just 1 minute and 14 seconds remaining...Kulka finished with 294 yards through the air on 27 completions in 42 attempts and two TDs...CJ Davidson had a game-best 100 yards rushing on 15 carries and a pair of TDs...Kendyl Williams led all receivers with 11 grabs including a TD and 95 yards...the LTU offense rolled up 403 yards and held the ball for 34 minutes.

CJ Davidson Tops 1,000 Career Rushing Yards: The redshirt senior out of Pontiac (Walled Lake Central High School) became the Blue Devils all-time rushing king in the season opener, surpassing previous recordholder Tanner Foley's 642 yards from 2018-19. Davidson, who is a 2022 All-MSFA Mideast Second Team pick, currently has 1039 yards to extend his benchmark after notching 99 on the ground against Concordia (Michigan).

Split the Uprights: Sophomore Vincent Robison is the only MSFA kicker who has not missed a point-after or field goal attempt with a minimum of 10 tries. He is 13-for-13 with four field goals and nine PATs.

Charting Rembert: Fellow All-MSFA choice Jaden Rembert, a junior, ranks third on the program's all-time list with 1,442 receiving yards (No. 1: Kendyl Williams, 2,015; 2018-22) and third with 98 catches (No. 1: CJ Thompson, 155, 2018-19 and '21-22).

Company on the Receiving Corp: The Blue Devils have another top receiver in Jalen Wallace, who tops the team in receptions (24), yards (333), average/catch (13.88 yards; minimum 10) and average per game (55.5 yards). In his 22-game career, the junior has 83 receptions, 1006 yards and five TDs, becoming the fourth LTU receiver to eclipse 1,000 yards.

2023 Awards: Sophomore punter Carter Dixon earned his first MSFA Special Teams Player of the Week award on Sept. 25. He booted the longest punt--70 yards and one shy of the school record--in the MSFA this season on Sept. 16 versus St. Francis (Illinois).

Balance on Defense: Lawrence Tech boasts four student-athletes with at least 30 total tackles, including redshirt senior secondary Andrew Perkins III (28+21=49), redshirt junior linebacker Matt Plaga (15+22=37), redshirt sophomore linebacker Brody Snyder (11+19=30) and junior defensive lineman Michael White (7+23=30). Plaga also has forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and broken up another.

Did You Know?: In the MSFA Mideast preseason poll, LTU is picked to finish seventh (18 points) while Saint Francis (Indiana) is fourth with 27 points...the Blue Devils are 0-3 versus the Top-25 this season...Wallace ranks tied for eighth in the MSFA in catches and 10th in receiving yards...Davidson is fourth in the Association with 421 yards rushing...the LTU passing offense is fourth in the MSFA with 98 completions and first with 188 attempts and sixth in fourth-down conversions (6-for-16, 38 percent)...the Blue Devils are sixth defensively with four fumble recoveries...the USF Cougars' MSFA statistical rankings include: sixth in total offense (361.4 ypg), fifth in passing offense (221.4 ypg), fourth in rushing TDs (11), sixth in first downs per game (19.0), second in sacks (20) and third in third-down conversions (33-for-84, 39 percent)...the teams have a common opponent in St. Francis (Illinois) as LTU lost 14-12 at home while USF fell 17-0 to the Saints on the road.
