SOUTHFIELD--Junior guard
Maggie Long led all scorers with 16 points, but Lawrence Tech couldn't overcome 30.4 percent field goal shooting in a 61-49 loss at the hands of visiting Concordia (Michigan) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener for both teams at Don Ridler Field House on Saturday. The Cardinals improve to 2-2 on the season while the Blue Devils are now 0-3 overall.
LTU Highlights
- Long finished 5-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point range, and 3-of-4 at the charity stripe.
- Senior forward Jade Faris added 13 points and six rebounds.

- Alexx Braddock (6-8 FGs) led the Cardinals with a double-double of 14 points and game-high 12 rebounds, while Taylor Leatherman (5-10 FGs) and Abby Long (3-16 FGs, 7-8 FTs) matched her with 14 points.
- Long led the team with four assists.
How it Happened
- Leading 40-34 after three quarters, the Cardinals outscored the Blue Devils 21-15 over the final 10 minutes to secure the 12-point win.
- Concordia spurted to an 11-2 lead with 6 minutes and 15 seconds left before LTU closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run to tie it 11-11. Senior guard Addie Nagel keyed the comeback with a 3-pointer and freshman guard DeDe Smith (6 points, 7 rebounds) had four points during the stretch.
- Long gave the Blue Devils their only lead at 13-11 on a fastbreak layin to start the second quarter.
- The Cardinals responded with a 9-0 run to go up 20-13 with 4:52 to go and they never relinquished the lead after that. CUAA led 26-21 at halftime.
- In the third quarter, CUAA built as much as a 10-point advantage (33-23) before LTU clawed back within 37-34 on a Smith layup with 55 seconds remaining.
- But the Cardinals held the Blue Devils at bay in the final stanza by shooting 42.9 percent from the field (6-14) and holding them to 29.4 percent (5-17).
- CUAA made five more free throws (19-for-22) than LTU attempted (10-14) and outrebounded the home team, 44-33.
