Five Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Named CSC Academic All-District NAIA

GREENWOOD, Ind.--The College Sports Communicators recently released the 2023 Academic All-District® NAIA Men's Soccer Team, where five Lawrence Tech student-athletes were selected to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration: Guillermo Garcia (Leon, Spain/Marista San Jose High School/Eastern Nazarene College), Skander Larfaoui (Antibes, France/Mougins High School), Gabriel Martin (Alcalá de Henares, Spain/Alkala Nahar High School), Victor Pueyo (Barcelona, Spain/Laude El Altillo High School) and Jacob Schleicher (Berkley High School). 

A sophomore midfielder, Garcia netted career highs of seven goals and 16 points, which were both good for second on the team. The data sciences major also posted three game-winning tallies, 45 shots and 27 shots on goal--all second for the Blue Devils.

Larfaoui is a senior forward majoring in general business, repeating his CSC Academic All-District® award from a season ago. He was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year runner-up earning a spot on the first unit after racking up team-leading 14 goals--five were game-winners--among 32 points--both good for second in the conference. He also is a 2021 WHAC All-Newcomer Team member, 2022 all-conference second team standout and 2022 Daktronics NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete.

A redshirt sophomore forward who is majoring in robotics engineering, Martin started in 17 of 18 games. He helped a defense register six shutouts.

Pueyo, a junior embedded software engineering major, has now earned CSC NAIA Academic All-District honors in back-to-back seasons. The midfielder contributed two goals, an assist and five total points in 17 starts.

Schleicher, a junior midfielder, is majoring in mechanical engineering. He started in all 19 of the team's games, logging the most minutes at 1680. He posted career-high scoring totals of two goals, five assists and nine total points. He was second on the squad in assists, coming in sixth in the WHAC.

Additionally, all five student-athletes are Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and Academic All-WHAC for this season.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® men's soccer honorees will be announced December 19. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
