GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils 2023 cross country season ended with the WHAC Championships at Riverside park Grand Rapids.
In the women's competition, Hanna Assenmacher and Jacqueline Albo placed 7th and 9th, respectively, to lead the team to a 6th place finish. Like the men's team both fell short in qualifying as individuals.
Cornerstone won the meet and got the automatic bid. Aquinas, who took 2nd place, did not get an at-large bid as both women failed to qualify for the national championship.
Coach Green seemed encouraged on the growth of the women's team, "We just ran out of meets to run this season because our women's team were getting stronger each race. The race was a 6k this year, which was an adjustment from the 5ks we ran all season and I think that did not help our cause."
Hanna Assenmacher's 7th place finish earned her first team all-conference, which is the highest placing ever for an individual from our team. Her 6k time puts her #2 in school history and Jackie #3. Like the men's team, they will be much stronger next year.
