Uppleger, Droz Lead Blue Devils in WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils 2023 cross country season ended with the WHAC Championships at Riverside park Grand Rapids.

The men finished in 6th place. Aquinas College claimed the automatic bid to run at the NAIA National Cross Country Championship's in Vancouver, Washington by winning the conference title.  Luke Droz—who finished 8th place—and Connor Uppleger, 13th, received second team all-conference honors. Aquinas College was the only team to qualify, and both Conner and Luke both missed going as individual qualifiers.

The 8th place finish for Droz was the highest finish for a LTU runner ever in the 11 year history.

Coach Green on the season: "It was a tough one for us this year.  We had high expectations after qualifying as a team last year for the national meet. We only lost Nolan McGahan in our top 7 last year and had everyone else coming back.  It seemed like we could not get our team all healthy at once to run to our potential. Griffin [Armbrustmacher] was out the whole season, Conner [Uppleger] was hurt for the first half, and Hunter Assenmacher dropping out of the conference race with an injury was just too much for us to overcome.  Next year should be our year with everyone coming back and with a couple of fast kids we have signed for next year."
