AUSTIN, Texas – Lawrence Tech senior forward
Skander Larfaoui (Antibes, France/Mougins High School) has been selected to the College Sports Communicators 2023 Academic All-America® NAIA Men's Soccer Second Team, it was announced today.
A two-time CSC Academic All-District® NAIA Men's Soccer First Team choice,
Larfaoui becomes the first Blue Devils men's soccer Academic All-American® since 2018 and the fourth overall in program history. LTU Athletics has received 11 CSC Academic All-America® citations since 2015, as varsity athletics were re-introduced four years earlier.
Larfaoui. who has compiled a 3.73 overall grade-point average while majoring in general business, was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year runner-up while earning a spot on the first unit. He racked up a team-leading 14 goals--five were game-winners--among 32 points as both were good for second place in the conference. He also is a 2021 WHAC All-Newcomer Team member, 2022 all-conference second team standout and 2022 and '23 Daktronics NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete.
For his career, Larfaoui ranks fourth on the school's all-time goal-scoring list with 25 markers. His 14 this season alone broke a benchmark that had stood for 11 years. He also is tied for fourth in career assists (11) and third in point-scoring (61).
In all, the Blue Devils this season had five student-athletes advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
The NAIA teams had an 3.82 average GPA. The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
The four Academic All-America® teams (including NCAA Divisions I-II-III), totaling 126 players, have a 3.86 average grade-point average with 30 members posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.
