Offense Lifts Baseball to Sweep at Rochester

TROY, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological Blue Devils baseball team traveled to Rochester in to start conference play. Their first games since their Florida trip.The Blue Devils offense, like the Florida weather they had played in, stayed hot, securing a sweep of the double header following 18-12 and 18-10 victories.

Game 1:
  • Kenny Wright (3-0) got the start on the mound in game 1, he went 4 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks. He struck out 5 Warrior batters.
  • A Nick Post 2-run homer capped off a 7-run first inning
  • Trent Reed homered in the second, extending the lead to 10-0
  • A 4-run fourth and 5-run fifth brought the Warriors within striking distance at 13-9
  • Nick Olsen's grand slam in the 6th slammed the door on a Rochester comeback
Game 2:
  • Jay Gallant (1-1) took the bump in game 2, pitching 6 innings, giving up five runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out 11.
  • Joel Stirnemann got the scoring going, stealing home as a part of a double  steal
  • A 4-run fourth gave the Blue Devils a 7-1 advantage
  • Jake Llaneza hit his second home run of the season, extending the lead to seven
  • The Warriors took two back in the fifth
  • Olsen homers again, this one a 3-run bomb, adding to an impressive day at the plate. LTU 11, RU 3
  • Jason Erhardt joined the longball parade in the eighth, adding two in a 4-run inning.
